Technical FAQ – A2 Type Brass Cable Glands

Which material should be specified?

Specify the brass alloy and finish on the order. CW614N (CuZn39Pb3) and CW617N (CuZn40Pb2) are different alloys and should not be treated as interchangeable. Confirm the body, seal and any armour-clamping materials for the selected gland.

How do I confirm connection compatibility?

Match the enclosure entry thread, pitch and engagement length. Metric, PG, NPT and BSP are different thread systems; a nominal size does not make them interchangeable. Confirm the actual thread offered for the selected model. IEC 62444 describes cable-gland requirements, not a thread profile.

What dimensions are needed for selection?

Provide the cable construction, outer sheath diameter, bedding diameter and armour dimensions where applicable, together with the enclosure entry. Select from the model’s documented cable acceptance range; entry size is not the cable diameter.

What determines suitability and operating limits?

Choose the gland for the cable construction and installation environment. Confirm the sealing arrangement, temperature range and required ingress protection for the assembled installation. A gland type name alone does not establish an IP rating or hazardous-area approval.

What finish and inspection documentation should I request?

State the required surface finish, coating thickness where relevant, and critical dimensions on the order. Material certificates, dimensional reports and any specified performance tests should be agreed in the quotation. A reference to a standard is not a declaration of third-party certification.

Can I request a custom part or export quotation?

Send a drawing or clearly dimensioned sample specification, material, quantity and delivery destination. Identify application conditions and required approvals. Brass Parts India can review the requirement and confirm feasibility, price, documentation and lead time for the quoted part.
