Brass Spacers and Standoffs for Electronic and Mechanical Assemblies
Brass spacers and standoffs maintain a defined distance between components. Choose a clearance spacer, female-female standoff or male-female standoff to suit the assembly. Specify the alloy, body length, outside dimensions, thread size and depth, and finish. CZ121 is commonly cross-referenced to CW614N machining brass; it must not be confused with CZ112. Nickel plating is an option to be confirmed with the order.

Clearance spacers have a through bore for a separate screw. Threaded standoffs provide internal or external threads and must match the mating fastener. Round and hexagonal bodies serve different access and assembly needs.
State the finished spacing length, bore diameter or thread designation, thread engagement, body diameter or across-flats dimension, and end-face requirements. Include tolerances and coating allowances on the drawing. The M2–M5 range shown on this page is a catalogue reference; confirm the selected configuration and available size.
Allow adequate thread engagement without bottoming the screw in a blind hole. Determine tightening torque for the brass grade, wall thickness and mating parts. Brass is conductive; use an appropriate insulating spacer or isolating arrangement where electrical isolation is required.
Send a drawing or sample dimensions, quantity, alloy and finish requirements. Specify inspection records, packaging and any required material documentation. Screw-head standards such as DIN 7985 do not define standoff dimensions.
Specify the brass alloy and condition on the drawing. Free-machining and forging brasses are different choices; steel or stainless steel parts are separate material options, not brass grades. Confirm corrosion and strength requirements for the application.
Specify male-female, female-female or plain-bore construction, thread pitch, engagement and body profile. A spacer has no inherent electrical-insulation function simply because it separates components.
Provide body length, outside diameter or across-flats dimension, internal bore, stud length, thread depth and mounting clearances. These dimensions describe a standoff more usefully than an unrelated screw-head table.
Spacers and standoffs position and support parts in an assembly. Confirm mechanical loading, electrical clearances and grounding requirements; brass is electrically conductive.
State the required surface finish, coating thickness where relevant, and critical dimensions on the order. Material certificates, dimensional reports and any specified performance tests should be agreed in the quotation. A reference to a standard is not a declaration of third-party certification.
