Brass Compression Fittings 06-b

Brass Compression Fittings for Specified Tube Connections

Compression Fittings

Brass compression fittings connect compatible tubing using a nut and compression ring or ferrule. Select the complete fitting for the tube outside diameter, wall thickness, hardness, fluid and operating conditions. Compression joints and flare joints use different sealing arrangements. Matching nominal sizes or a similar appearance does not establish compatibility between fitting brands.

Key Specifications

Materials:

BS 2874/2872 Brass

Size Range:

2mm to 2" (25 sizes)

Finishes:

Natural, Chrome, Nickel

Select the complete fitting system

Use the body, nut and ferrules specified for the same fitting design. Do not mix Parker, Legris, Swagelok or other manufacturers’ components on the assumption that they are interchangeable. Confirm any proposed connection with the relevant manufacturer’s written instructions.

Tube size and connection threads

Specify the actual tube outside diameter, wall thickness and material. Metric tube sizes and inch tube sizes are separate series. For a threaded adapter, state the full thread designation and sealing arrangement: NPT, BSP taper and BSP parallel are distinct connections. Parallel threads generally need a separate seal; matching thread diameter alone is insufficient.

Pressure, temperature and fluid suitability

The allowable duty depends on the complete assembly, tubing, seals, installation and service conditions. Request the model-specific pressure-temperature rating and any required test documentation. Confirm the brass grade and applicable product approvals for potable water, gas or other regulated service.

Installation and inspection

Prepare the tube and assemble the fitting according to the selected design’s instructions. Use the prescribed insertion depth and tightening method; do not apply a generic torque or number of turns across all fitting types. Test the completed installation using the applicable procedure.

Information for a quotation

Provide a drawing or fitting configuration, tube details, thread designation, quantity, service fluid, pressure, temperature and finish. Material certification and inspection requirements should be agreed with the order.
