Stainless Steel Flanges: Material, Dimensions and Pressure Class

Stainless Steel Flanges

Select stainless steel flanges by flange type, nominal size, dimensional standard, pressure class or PN designation, facing and material grade. ASTM A182 is a material specification for forged or rolled alloy and stainless steel piping components; it is not the flange dimensional standard. State ASME B16.5, EN 1092-1 or the applicable project standard separately.

Key Specifications

Standards:

Dimensions: ASME B16.5 / EN 1092-1 as specified; material separately

Materials:

SS 304/316/316L/202

Weight Range:

10 Grams to 40kg

Flange types and mating components

Weld-neck, slip-on, blind, threaded and lap-joint flanges have different assembly requirements. Match the flange, pipe or stub end, gasket, bolting and mating face to the design. Confirm bore or pipe schedule, facing dimensions, bolt circle and surface finish.

Pressure class and temperature

ASME Class 150 is a class designation, not a universal 150 psi working-pressure rating. The allowable pressure depends on material group, temperature and the governing standard. PN designations also require the applicable pressure-temperature assessment.

DIN and EN references

For legacy drawings, identify the exact DIN reference and edition. Legacy DIN flange references have been superseded; use the edition specified by the project. Confirm replacement dimensions against the applicable EN 1092-1 type and PN requirements rather than assuming interchangeability.

Material and manufacturing route

For an ASTM A182 flange, specify the applicable grade, such as F304, F316 or F316L, and all required heat-treatment and testing conditions. Cast components require an appropriate casting specification and cannot be represented as ASTM A182 forgings. Confirm service suitability, especially for chloride-containing fluids.

Quotation and documentation

Provide flange type, size, standard, pressure class or PN, facing, bore, alloy, quantity and design conditions. State material certification, dimensional inspection, non-destructive examination and any project-specific testing requirements. Manufacturing capability, finish and delivery are confirmed in the quotation.

Frequently Asked Questions – Stainless Steel Flanges

What is Stainless Steel Flanges?

Stainless Steel Flanges is a pipe or tube fitting used in plumbing, process and instrumentation systems. Final suitability depends on the approved specification and application conditions.

Where is Stainless Steel Flanges commonly used?

Typical applications include plumbing, process and instrumentation systems. Confirm load, environment, mating parts and applicable standards before selection.

Which materials are available for Stainless Steel Flanges?

Specify brass, stainless steel or another compatible alloy. State the exact grade because similar commercial alloys can differ in composition and performance.

Which sizes can be supplied for Stainless Steel Flanges?

Standard and custom sizes can be reviewed from pipe or tube size, thread, seal type and pressure class. Nominal size alone may not define compatibility.

What dimensions are required to order Stainless Steel Flanges?

Provide pipe or tube size, thread, seal type and pressure class, with units, tolerances and drawing revision.

Can Stainless Steel Flanges be made to a custom drawing?

Yes. Custom geometry, threads, tolerances and features can be assessed from a dimensioned drawing or approved sample.

Which thread standards are available for Stainless Steel Flanges?

Relevant Metric, BSP, BSPT, NPT, NPTF, PG, BA or BSW threads may be considered. Specify form, size, pitch, class and engagement length.

Which finishes are offered for Stainless Steel Flanges?

Options may include natural, plated, polished or passivated. Specify coating type, thickness, appearance and corrosion or conductivity needs.

What tolerances can be maintained on Stainless Steel Flanges?

Tolerance depends on material, size, geometry and process. Mark critical dimensions and fits clearly on the drawing.

How should Stainless Steel Flanges be installed?

Check mating dimensions, orientation, sealing or retention method and specified tightening torque before use.

How is Stainless Steel Flanges inspected?

Inspection can cover material identity, critical dimensions, threads, finish and drawing-specific functional checks.

Which quality documents are available for Stainless Steel Flanges?

Material certificates, dimensional reports and coating or test records can be agreed at quotation stage.

Are samples available for Stainless Steel Flanges?

Prototype or pre-production samples can be reviewed for new custom parts, subject to tooling and material requirements.

What are the MOQ and lead time for Stainless Steel Flanges?

Minimum quantity and lead time vary with material, size, tooling, finish, inspection and order volume.

What is needed for a Stainless Steel Flanges quotation?

Provide the drawing or specification, material, dimensions, tolerances, finish, quantity, inspection, packing and destination.
