CW614N Brass Alloy: CW614N Brass Components , CW614N Brass Turned Parts

CW614N is the EN designation for the world’s most widely specified free-machining brass. Chemically identical to CuZn39Pb3 and equivalent to US grade C36000, this leaded alpha-beta brass is the default choice wherever high-volume CNC turning, hot stamping and forging meet tight tolerances and fine surface finish. This guide focuses on where CW614N is used, how it performs, its standard sizes and product forms — and includes a round & hex bar weight calculator you can use right on this page. We offer Brass CW614N Turned parts, Brass CW614N CNC machined components, Brass CW614N Screw machine parts, Brass CW614N bushes, Brass CW614N threaded component, Brass CW614N pins, Brass CW614N inserts , Brass CW614N plastic molding inserts etc.
What Is CW614N Brass?
CW614N is the European (EN) material number for a leaded brass whose chemical name is CuZn39Pb3. It contains approximately 58% copper, 39% zinc and 3% lead. The lead is insoluble in brass and disperses as microscopic globules that break chips and lubricate the cut, which is why CW614N sets the 100% machinability benchmark for copper alloys. Its two-phase (α+β) structure also makes it one of the easiest brasses to hot forge and stamp.
If you need the metallurgical deep-dive — full chemistry, tempers and microstructure — see our companion article on CuZn39Pb3 brass. Across standards the same alloy appears as CW614N (EN number), CuZn39Pb3 (EN/ISO name), C36000 (ASTM/UNS) and CZ121 (legacy UK).
